Iranian IM Sara Khadem joins the lineup for the World Chess Armageddon Championship Series: Women's Week!

After being introduced to chess by one of her classmates at eight years old, Sara had her parents put her in a chess class. At the age of 12 she had her first successes by winning the Asian Under-12 Girls Championship and the World Under-12 Girls Championship. In 2018 Sara was the runner up in both Women's World Rapid and Blitz Championships, held in Saint Petersburg.

In 2022 at the World Rapid Championship in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Sara decided to compete without a veil, in defense of women's freedom and in solidarity with the protests that began after the death of the young Mahsa Zhina Amini in Iran. This decision completely changed her and her family's life, who are now living in the south of Spain.
